Born in Stamford, Connecticut, raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Ryan Henry has always had a passion for fitness. His dream as a child was to play in the NBA or train athletes to become professionals and help injured athletes rehabilitate to elite levels. Throughout high school and college, Ryan played basketball where he earned many awards for his outstanding performance. As a graduate of the University of West Florida, Ryan majored in Exercise Science. It was through this degree and his passion for sports and fitness that he opened his own fitness business, “RYFITNESS” and began to carve out a career as a Personal Trainer. His first clients were his mother and her friends. The motivation he gained from their improvement physically, mentally and emotionally, as well as their continued dedication to a healthier lifestyle, inspired Ryan to push harder to share his passion with the world.
Being community oriented is just the tip of the iceberg. Ryan has been very active in his community keeping them educated about ways to stay healthy by exercising and choosing healthier food choices. He hosted the “Walk With Mommy” event on mother’s day in 2014, which was also dedicated to his mother who won her fight against breast cancer. This event focused on educating women about breast cancer and how to lower their chances of developing it as well as encouraging them to do monthly self-exams. Ryan also hosted the “Healthy Kids Backpack Giveaway” where he raised awareness on childhood obesity and fundraised for backpacks filled with health tips and school supplies to the community for back to school. He was the Assistant coach of American Heritage High School basketball team which won the state championship in 2014.
His dream is to see young people get excited about sports and fitness like he was as a child, which will lead to a healthy community and can open the doors to educational opportunities through sports. He is a big asset to his community and his thirst for success will push him even further.
